I rebuilt my transmission in my garage in May. I have 8,000 miles on my transmission since then. The ATSG Manual was essential and was so helpful and descriptive. It was just like a Lego set instruction manual. At the time i did it it took me 5 weeks. 3 of which I was waiting on parts. Yes. 3 weeks dedicated to parts shipping. The only thing I was not able to do myself was the OD housing with a 800lb spring. Had a shop do it and install the new frictions and install the bushings into the pump and other components so I had the piece of mind that they were done correctly. This kit shipped very quickly and it was about 2 days after I purchased it arrived. When you do this project Purchase the BD diesel solenoid and Transducer to save yourself time. It doesn’t stay in the valve body by it’self so I used 2 zip ties. Haven’t had an issue in 8000 miles after the zip tie fix. The main thing I had to wait for shipping was the selective spacer and the pressure sensor. But shipping companies should be back on their feet and this shouldn’t be an issue now. If you have all the parts available to you, this is very do-able. Invest in some good precision measuring tools. They are needed for your transmission to have the correct spacer. I followed the YouTube video for the tolerances and haven’t had an issue. My instagram is talonsh28 if anyone has questions about the transmission job. I’d be more than happy to answer any questions and provide information if needed.
