To overcome the common head gasket failures on today's high performance diesel engines, industry leader ARP has introduced extra heavy duty head studs for the popular Ford, Dodge and GM diesel powerplants. These ARP studs are rated at extreme tensile strength and provide the clamping force required to keep cylinder heads from lifting under higher combustion pressures. The studs are manufactured in ARP's Santa Paula, CA plant from proprietary ARP2000, 8740, and Custom Age materials, with threads rolled after heat treatment to provide optimum fatigue strength. They are centerless ground to ensure perfect concentricity. The ends of the studs are broached to make installation easy, which also allows the cylinder head to be removed in tight quarters. Each kit also includes heat treated chromoly steel 12-point nuts and parallel ground washers. They are black oxide finished for extra durability and include a packet of ARP's own Ultra-Torque fastener lubricant.
